WHY WORK HERE
What it's like to work at Mountain Dental.
The practice has been in Placerville since 2017, and the team has been built deliberately, one person at a time, around a clinical philosophy that treats the mouth as connected to the rest of the body.
The work
Real clinical work.
The practice uses biocompatible composite, ceramic and zirconia crowns, and ozone where it makes clinical sense. Dr. Keith is IAOMT-certified (International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology) and follows the SMART protocol for safe amalgam removal. We don’t recommend procedures patients don’t need. The clinical decisions get explained to the patient, and the team has to be able to back them up. Working here means understanding why we do what we do, not just following a script.
The patients
Patients who actually want to be here.
Many of our patients drive an hour or more to the practice. They’ve researched the materials, the philosophy, and the methodology before booking. They show up engaged, and the work is more interesting because of it.
The team
A team that knows each other.
Some of the team have been here for nearly 20 years. The front desk knows the hygienists, the hygienists know the assistants, and the assistants know Dr. Keith and Dr. Jake. There’s no churn culture and no quiet hierarchy. Decisions get made quickly because everyone is on the same page.
The building
Coordinated care with Well Balanced Body Chiropractic.
The practice shares a building, a philosophy, and a coordinated treatment protocol with Well-Balanced Body Chiropractic, run by Dr. Malori Tinsley. For team members drawn to integrated, whole-patient clinical care, this building offers a model that doesn’t exist elsewhere in the area.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
The kind of person who fits this practice.
Specific traits matter more here than years of experience. We’ve trained great hygienists and assistants who came in with less experience but fit the values. We’ve also passed on applicants with long resumes who didn’t. If most of the following describe you, the practice is likely a fit:
You explain things to patients in plain language, and don't hide behind clinical terms when something simpler would land
You ask questions instead of assuming, and you're comfortable saying "I don't know, let me find out"
You've thought about the materials and methods you use on patients, and you have opinions about them
You work well in a small team where everyone has a real role and communication stays direct
You're patient with kids who are scared, with adults who have anxiety, and with the slower pace those visits sometimes require
You take feedback as information rather than as criticism, and you give it the same way
You care about your own health, and you bring that perspective to how you talk with patients about theirs
