HOW IT WORKS
How the Dental Health Savings Plan works
The Dental Health Savings Plan is an in-house membership that covers your preventive care for one flat yearly rate, with a discount on anything further you need.
Dental insurance is designed to minimize cost for the insurance company. That isn’t always aligned with what’s best for the patient, and you often don’t find out what a visit actually costs you until a bill arrives weeks later. The plan replaces that with a number you know up front: you pay once for the year, your preventive visits are covered, and there are no claims to file or approvals to wait on.
The plan also keeps you on a steady schedule, set with us directly rather than around what a policy will approve.

Questions patients ask
The Dental Health Savings Plan, answered.
Is this dental insurance?
No. It’s an in-house membership, with no insurance company and no claims process between you and your care.
What if I already have dental insurance?
The plan works in place of dental insurance rather than alongside it, so the two aren’t combined. Some patients keep their insurance because it works well for them. Others prefer one known cost for preventive care. We’re glad to help you sort out which makes sense for your situation.
How much does the plan cost?
The plan is one flat rate for the year. Pricing is quick to go over by phone, and talking it through lets us make sure the plan is the right fit for you. Call us at (530) 642-8614.
What does the discount cover?
Members receive 15% off additional diagnosed treatment beyond the preventive care the plan already includes. That covers fillings, crowns and bridges, extractions, dentures and partials, implant crowns, scaling and root planing, additional cleanings and exams, and cosmetic treatment. Orthodontic treatment and products aren’t included.
Does the plan cover crowns, implants, or other major work?
The plan covers preventive care in full and takes 15% off major treatment, including crowns, bridges, and implant crowns. Orthodontic treatment isn’t part of the plan. We’ll walk you through what that looks like for your specific treatment plan.
What if I need periodontal care?
The periodontal maintenance plan includes three periodontal maintenance visits a year in place of the two regular cleanings on the maintenance plan. It’s built for patients whose gum health needs more frequent attention.
Which of the two plans am I on?
If you’ve had scaling and root planing, or your hygienist has you on a shorter recall than every six months, the periodontal maintenance plan is likely the right one. Call and we’ll confirm before you enroll.
What if I have a dental emergency?
Call the office and we’ll work you into the schedule. Members receive the plan discount on any treatment that follows.
What if I move or no longer need the plan?
The plan is honored only at Mountain Dental, and membership fees are non-refundable. If you’re weighing whether it fits, call first and we’ll walk through it with you.
